Makeup Mogul Bobbi Brown Shares ‘Quick’ Beauty Tips for Those With Rosacea

Makeup Mogul Bobbi Brown Shares ‘Quick’ Beauty Tips for Those With Rosacea

Beauty industry icon Bobbi Brown routinely shares her makeup tips and tricks—whether you’re looking for general glowing skin or more targeted techniques for women over 50, she has you covered. Now, the beauty mogul is offering advice for those with rosacea, a skin condition that causes blushing or flushing and visible blood vessels on your face. She’s even sharing her go-to product for covering redness associated with the skin condition: Jone’s Road Beauty The Face Pencil

In a recent TikTok video, Brown replied to a comment which said: “Since using your products my rosacea has calmed down! I love the less is more of your products!” Brown launched a line of cosmetics, Jones Road Beauty, which was founded on the philosophy that “the world doesn’t need more beauty products. It needs better beauty products.”

“I am so happy that it worked for you,” Brown replied on TikTok. “And it’s not that it’s gonna work for everyone with rosacea, but I’m really happy it worked, and I think simplifying your makeup routine made a big difference.”

Brown takes her makeup advice a step further, recommending ways to conceal rosacea spots. “You could use Jones Road to spot correct any kind of redness on the skin with the pencils, and moisturizing products are actually really good for rosacea,” Brown continues. “Also using makeup that is a cleaner option to avoid any kind of irritation I think really helps. But, if you have rosacea make sure you talk to your doctor.”

So, we did talk to a doctor. “I completely agree that it is best to keep the makeup routine simple for individuals with rosacea,” says Marisa Garshick, M.D., board-certified dermatologist at MDCS Dermatology in New York City. “Using ingredients that are moisturizing and help to support and strengthen the skin barrier can be important for those with rosacea to minimize potential irritation and sensitivity.”

The pencils Brown mentions are The Face Pencil from Jones Road Beauty, which is “available in many different shades [and] helps to cover redness while also nourishing the skin,” Dr. Garshick explains. “The combination of shea butter, allantoin, linoleic and stearic acid can help to replenish moisture while also soothing the skin.” Another top tip: Dr. Garshick recommends using green-tinted cosmetic products as these “help to neutralize the appearance of redness that goes along with rosacea.”

In terms of “clean” beauty products, Dr. Garshick notes that there is no standard definition for the term, but agrees that for those with rosacea it can be important to avoid products containing harsh alcohols, parabens, or phthalates which can be drying on the skin or fragrances which can be irritating to the skin. Thankfully, Brown’s cosmetics are dermatologist-approved.

We are so thankful for all of Brown’s helpful makeup tips and tricks, and we can’t wait to see what knowledge she drops next.
